Katy Perry welcomed her daughter Daisy Dove earlier this year, but the singer has put in a lot of work and effort to get back in shape.
Speaking in an interview on Radio 1 with Nick Grimshaw a few weeks before giving birth, Katy Perry talked about the changes her body went through during pregnancy. The ‘Roar’ hitmaker revealed that her body was so swollen that she could not tell her butt from her elbow. However, Katy said that she was determined to get back her pre-pregnancy body and abs, insisting that she was going to look like Tayana Taylor, the American singer.
Granted, losing post-baby curvatures after pregnancy takes a while, and that is evident in a photo Katy posted on her Instagram story five days after giving birth to her daughter Daisy Dove, with English actor Orlando Bloom. Having gained about 45 pounds during pregnancy, the American Idol judge is far from having an entirely perfect flat tummy (and that’s totally okay!). Still, her body looks fit and put-together. Here’s how she’s been getting back in shape following her pregnancy.
Katy Remained Physically Active Throughout Her Pregnancy
Sharing with Australian radio presenters, Kyle and Jacky O, on how she handled pregnancy during the lockdown, the California girl admitted that she had remained active even during the Covid era, Vogue reports. During this time, Katy continued releasing songs, including launching her album, ‘Smile’ in August and generally worked hard that entire time.
Before pregnancy, Katy liked doing brief, intense workouts, including hip thrusts and lunges as her fitness trainer, Harley explained to POPSUGAR Fitness. As well, Katy enjoys hiking and getting outside, and going for walks with her dog, Nugget. We could say that Katy kept up with routines that gave her a dose of physical fitness during her pregnancy journey.
She Follows A Healthy Meal Plan
Katy Perry follows Harley Pasternak’s diet, which promotes eating five, small wholesome meals a day, and working out five times every week. Speaking to PEOPLE, Katy revealed that her diet includes broths, grilled asparagus, whole grains such as quinoa, and grilled chicken. Likewise, she gets nutrients and vitamins from coconut water and pressed fresh fruit juices. Consequently, Katy sticks to eating balanced meals, to avoid illnesses, and to maintain high energy levels for work and performances. When she is craving certain foods and smoothies, she finds healthier versions of the meals including smoothies that have healthy flavors minus the fat.
She’s A Big Fan of Apple Cider Vinegar
On top of eating wholesome meals, Prevention reports that Perry loves apple cider vinegar. Her love for ACV goes way back to when she was growing up when her mother would make her drink ACV every day. Now, the drink is an essential part of her routine, and she was pleased to discover that ACV is a staple for her fiancé, too. Besides drinking it, Perry rinses her vegetables in ACV and takes it a step further to even bathe in it.
Katy Practices Meditation
Katy Perry practices meditation, in place of prescription medication to manage anxiety. She is an outspoken advocate for ‘Transcendental Meditation,’ which is a form of meditation where you are given a personal mantra and guided by a teacher. Meditating daily has helped Katy ease her common stresses, which explains her relative calm and peace throughout her pregnancy. Shortly after she learned the TM technique almost 10 years ago, Perry’s road crew learned it, too. Katy brings her teacher along on tours to lead TM sessions for her team before performances.
She Also Does Hot-Yoga to Relieve Stress
Katy Perry relaxes with a yoga session after a stressful event. When she lost a copyright court battle for her song, ‘Dark Horse,’ Daily Mail spotted Perry going for a yoga class in Los Angeles in a rather relaxed look, and stopping by a café to pick up iced coffee after her session. Perry has suffered depression in the past, from which the CorePower yoga practically cured her, she claims. This type of yoga is pricy but works efficiently to carry away the depression and to clear the mind.
Katy Has A Supportive Partner
When it comes to her relationship with her fiancé, Perry explained that their love language is everything spiritual and working out, with Bloom motivating her to join him in working out and doing hot yoga when she does not care to follow with those activities. Moreover, Perry credits part of her health and fitness routine to Bloom, who is always trying to get her to eat vegan, do yoga, and hike, thereby promoting healthy living. On the whole, Katy is accustomed to living a healthy lifestyle and the task to get back in shape was not going to be hard for her.
