After Angela Deem’s weight loss surgery reveal, Larissa Lima expressed fears about the TLC star’s bariatric procedure. Is Larissa right to worry?

The most shocking of all 2020 90 Day Fiancé revelations was Angela Deem’s decision to get weight loss surgery. Angela shocked her Nigerian husband Michael with her confession, during a 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? Tell-All for season 6, while in the midst of an argument about IVF. As fans are now seeing the results of Angela’s transformation on Instagram, many are recalling her co-star Larissa Lima’s comment about how she could “die” from the surgery.

While 90 Day Fiancé’s Angela is turning heads right now with her skinny new look, she made fans (and her co-stars) gasp in unison when she opened up about her future surgery. Her new Nigerian husband Michael was absolutely not thrilled. The Georgia grandma revealed how she would be dropping a hundred “and something” pounds three months after the weight loss surgery. Angela then spoke about getting another cosmetic procedure to tighten her skin, as 90 Day Fiancé’s Michael kept chanting, “no.” Angela Deem is 56 and getting surgery may pose a big risk to her health. Michael stated that he’s not in favor of “artificial stuff.” This was when 90 Day Fiancé’s Michael proved that he truly loves his Angie exactly the way she is. However, she was obviously concerned about her “weight problem.” Another major reason why Angela was going under the knife turned out to be her rumored fitness-based solo 90 Day Fiancé spin-off. Is getting another show worth it for Angela, who may experience health problems due to the surgery?

In spite of 90 Day Fiancé star Angela shocking fans with the weight loss statement and with her new and jaw-dropping @deemangela Instagram pics, she still hasn’t spoken about the kind of surgery she’s gotten. Assuming she may be taking a page out of June Shannon’s book (June is better known as Mama June from Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and From Not to Hot), Angela seems to have opted for gastric sleeve surgery. The bariatric procedure apparently would have reduced 90 Day Fiancé’s Angela’s stomach size by 75%. During the procedure, part of the stomach is removed, and that part makes an appetite-boosting hormone. As Mayo Clinic writes, it’s usually done as a last resort when diet and exercise haven’t worked for a person, or if they have “serious health problems” due to their weight. However, the source also suggests that Angela’s surgery, although beneficial, “can pose serious risks and side effects.” To boost the chances of having an operation that is a “long-term success,” proper diet and regular exercise are required. See Angela below:

The potential health risks that a patient may face with the surgical procedure include excessive bleeding, infection, adverse reactions to anesthesia, lung, or breathing problems. In rare cases, a patient may die, as per 90 Day Fiancé’s Larissa’s claims. While Angela seems to have recovered well from surgery, there are longer-term risks that come with the bariatric procedure, including bowel obstruction, dumping syndrome, gallstones, hernia, low blood sugar, malnutrition, the need for a revision procedure, and death (fatalities are rare). Additionally, Web MD reports that rapid weight loss, which can be induced via diet pills and supplements, very-low-calorie diets, and more, can also give rise to symptoms such as dehydration, fatigue, and headaches. TLC viewers may have noticed their favorite 90 Day Fiancé’s Angela promoting “weight loss shots” that “banish cravings” on social media.

A lot of fans ask Angela how she’s doing when she posts her stunning transformation pictures on IG. Angela’s recent posts suggest that she’s happy and healthy as she awaits Michael’s arrival in America. One could say that the 90 Day Fiancé star’s profession as a nursing assistant made Angela confident about choosing weight loss surgery.
