A dad who faced a major “turning point” in his life has exclusively revealed his incredible weight loss journey.
At his heaviest, Mark Smith, 47, tipped the scales at 21st 7lbs before he kick-started his transformation.
The dad, from Hull, suffered from a number of health conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol and was pre-diabetic.
So when his friend recommended Slimming World, that’s when it all changed for Mark who went onto shed an impressive 7st.
Since his weight loss, he’s been able to ski and wear nice clothes – which is something he struggled with before his journey.
And he hasn’t even had to give up his favourite foods because he makes healthy versions himself to avoid missing out.
He told Daily Star Online: “I joined Slimming World after my doctor said I had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, a fatty liver and was pre-diabetic.
“A friend suggested Slimming World and I was reluctant at first but was instantly made to feel welcome. After a few weeks, my sister joined me as she wanted to support me and also lose weight herself for her wedding.
“As I’ve never been good with diets, Slimming World’s Food Optimising eating plan was the real turning point for me. At the group I would learn so much about different foods, healthy options and great meal ideas.”
Before Slimming World, Mark was never good with diets as it left him feeling hungry and miserable all the time.
But the group’s plan helped him to try so many different foods, as well as an fitness regime.
He added: “With Slimming World’s activity programme – I decided to do a 30 minute HIIT class, four times a week at my local gym.
“I’ve learnt to ski – something my friends have done for years but I was too embarrassed to try.
“And I’ve been able to spend more time with my wife, eating out, going for walks and hitting the gym together.”
Since his weight loss journey, Mark has turned his back on takeaways.
Instead of ditching his favourite foods altogether, he now enjoys healthy, homemade alternatives.
Now in a bid to inspire others on their weight loss journeys, the dad continued: “Keep going, never give up!
“Stick to the group whether you’ve had a good or bad week, support is always there.
“You’ll soon learn you have like-minded people in your corner and results will come. You are not alone!”
