LIMA — There’s a lot of activity going on in the old Blockbuster Video store at 2062 N. Cable Road.
Owner Nate Geise is moving the Allentown Road EpicVapes store to that location and he and Natalia Ortiz are starting something new called Sblended Nutrition.
“What we are going to be offering is smoothie type of shakes,” Ortiz said. “They’re meal replacements, so they’re going to have really good nutrition for you. It’s going to have 24 grams of protein and 21 vitamins and minerals that typically our bodies don’t get from the foods that we actually consume on a daily basis. We will also be providing teas that are energizing without the crash. We also have the option of having protein coffees. So it’s kind of like a mixture of a lot of different drinks, but they’re all very beneficial health-wise.”
They’ll also have house-brewed coffee and iced coffee on the menu.
The big seller, Ortiz believes will be the mega teas.
“One, because they’re pretty, it’s very eye-catching and also just the benefits that you get off of that. The combo is going to be the biggest seller (combining) our mega tea and our shake and that’s also a bargain for our customers. You’re actually saving about $4 if you just do a mega combo compared to doing it separately,” Ortiz said.
Customers should be in for a unique experience.
“A lot of it’s our own proprietary recipes that we’ve worked on and we’re going to keep working on,” said Geise. “I own a flavoring manufacturer in Fort Wayne, Indiana as well and we might be working with a lot of the flavorings that I carry at my manufacturing facility.”
Ortiz, who is originally from Lima, moved to Columbus about six years ago and discovered similar stores there that didn’t exist here.
“The opportunity found me and just based off of how I felt from the actual consumption of the shakes and the teas, but also just the community that I was a part of very uplifting, very positive and inspiring,” Ortiz said.
The grand opening of Sblended Nutrition is scheduled for Feb. 1.
Hours will be 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Ortiz is hoping to make a positive impact on the Lima community.
“Yeah, that’s definitely what I’m trying to do — positivity in here. It’s going to spread and you need to be a light to somebody and even just a smile, it’s going to brighten them up. That is what I want to bring to Lima,” Ortiz said.
Natalia Ortiz and Nate Geise plan to open Sblended Nutrition on Feb. The store is located at 2062 N. Cable Road in the former Blockbuster store.
