What other tips do you have staying well at home, both physically and mentally?
DD: I meditate every morning. I love Ziva Meditation; they have amazing online offerings. I’ve also been trying to get some sort of movement in every day, whether it’s going for a walk or taking an online class. Going to bed early is essential. Sometimes I forgo that for extra time with my husband or a movie, taking advantage of being at home without obligations or plans. However, I try to stick to it most nights as sleep is so important for physical and mental health.
WT: I try to fill my brain with interesting stuff. It’s easy to get caught up in the fear and drama the media feeds us every day. And while being informed is important, it’s not healthy if it’s all- consuming. I try to limit my consumption of news to just checking the status of the world and then leave time to fill my brain with information that will help stimulate ideas, inspiration and creativity. That’s what we try to offer with our Sakara Life Podcast, and I like listening to other podcasts like the Doctor’s Farmacy, On Being, Esther Perel and the goop Podcast.
Any advice for parents trying to keep it all together during this difficult time?
DD: I have been practicing letting go of all judgment of myself as a parent. If I need to put on “Sesame Street” so I can take a call, I do it, without guilt. I never used to rely on things like that, but this is a wild time that calls for doing what we need to do to keep our sanity and jobs. Our kids will be OK! Life is dramatic, it always is. Kids are resilient. I see it as my job to keep my spirits up and lean into gratitude in hopes that’s what my little one will see and feel during this time.
Have you made any wellness-related splurges while sheltering in place?
DD: I recently bought a gorgeous pair of chic pajamas that are so luxurious and make me feel a bit more put together around the house.
WT: I’ve simplified my skincare routine during quarantine, but with very luxurious products. I’m currently using the Living Libations Seabuckthorn Best Skin Ever as my oil cleanser followed by Vintner’s Daughter Active Treatment Essence and Active Botanical Serum. I’m obsessed.
What will be your first adventure once lockdown is over?
DD and WT: We haven’t seen each other since the lockdown! So, a big hug and hangout as BFFs is in order.
