CHARLES TOWN — The Jefferson County Board of Education unanimously approved a new assistant principal and coordinator of child nutrition, among other personnel actions, during Monday’s meeting
Jeremy Braithwaite was named the assistant principal at Driswood Elementary School, while Dylan Beitz was approved as the district’s coordinator of child nutrition.
Braithwaite transfers to the administration position after serving as a physical education teacher at North Jefferson Elementary School.
“Jeremy comes to us from North Jefferson where he taught, and prior to that, he taught in Clarke County,” JCS Superintendent Dr. Bondy Shay Gibson said. “He earned his master’s in educational leadership from JMU, and he also earned a BS in kinesiology. We welcome him as the new AP at Driswood Elementary School.”
Gibson presented Braithwaite to the board as he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to fill the position.
“Thank you very, very much for this opportunity,” he said. “I am so excited to be a part of this county and to venture into administration. I’m also extremely thankful for Kelly Osborne for giving me this opportunity to work alongside her at Driswood. I’m just very excited.”
Beitz takes over the coordinator position, bringing immense knowledge to the district in the field.
“For the last 12 years, he has been the director of child nutrition in Preston County, here in West Virginia,” Gibson said. “He has an incredible amount of experience. As all of you know, when we hire any administrative position, from Mr. Braithwaite to Mr. Beitz, it requires unanimous consent of everyone on the hiring committee. Mr. Beitz, being a WVU grad and a Jefferson grad and a native of Jefferson County, was very excited about moving back. We’re pretty excited about welcoming him.”
Beitz commented that he is excited to do the job to the best of his ability in coming months.
Deputy Superintendent of Operations Joyce White assured Beitz it will be an exciting job, as the district has worked tirelessly to ensure all students have access to food throughout the pandemic, from weekly pickups at school sites to porch and bus stop dropoffs to frequent communication from the transportation department to families.
“It’s good to have you back in Jefferson County,” White said to Beitz. “I look forward to working with you. Very talented with lots of skills, and we’ll do lots of exciting things as we have been doing during the pandemic.”
