We are waving and really excited to be out here today,” said Tawni Bassden, executive assistant to UMMC’s CEO.Leaders said the COVID-19 pandemic has made their job more challenging as thousands of people have been affected by the deadly virus.“We have additional masks and things you see on folks all around us. That adds an additional layer of work that must be done. Everybody is being extra careful,” said Dr. LouAnn Woodward, UMMC Vice Chancellor. “It is kind of hard. We wear these masks every day and practice good hand washing. It’s a trying time but we are getting through it,” Bassden said.Medical center leaders said encouragement and appreciation goes a very long way.“We are used to taking care of the sickest of the sick here at UMMC.
