SPRINGFIELD – An additional 15 people suspected of suffering from COVID-19 have been admitted to the hospital and seven more people have tested positive for the coronavirus at Baystate Health Systems.
Officials announced on Monday 12,193 people have now been tested for the disease since the start of the pandemic. A total of 1,665 have been confirmed to have COVID-19 and results of 70 tests are pending, Baystate Health officials said.
As of Monday there are 100 people being treated at one of the four Baystate Health Systems medical centers with COVID-19 symptoms. Test results are pending for 34 of the cases and 66 have been confirmed. There are 19 patients being treated in critical care units, officials said.
Baystate Health has been expanding testing to prevent the spread of the disease. An additional 181 people have been tested in the past day, officials said.
Most of the people hospitalized for the coronavirus or are suspected of having COVID-19 are in Springfield with 82 being treated at Baystate Medical Center. Baystate Noble in Westfield has five patients, Baystate Franklin in Greenfield has nine suspected cases and Baystate Wing in Palmer has seven suspected cases.
