The Worcester Red Sox announced a pair of locations the team will be selling its new jerseys and hats on Thursday.
The WooSox will host a merchandise pop up at the Mercantile Center at 100 Front St. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m on Thursday. Later in the afternoon, the team will host another pop up at Worcester Fitness at 440 Grove St. from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The pop ups are the next in a series the team has been hosting since it released nine official jerseys and on-field caps last month.
Three variations – red, white, blue – of the new jerseys read “WooSox” across the chest. Four variations – red, blue, gray and white – have “Worcester” across the chest. Another white jersey has “Red Sox” across the chest with a “W” on the left sleeve.
A final variation was blue featuring the “W” with the heart in the middle on the left chest.
Normally, home jerseys are relegated for team nicknames. But team officials wanted to highlight Worcester. It’s why “Worcester” appears on five of the nine jerseys – more than any brand that appears across the uniform’s chest.
“The [Boston] Red Sox brand ‘Red Sox’ more than they brand Boston. We’re branding Worcester just as much as we’re branding WooSox, maybe more,” Worcester Red Sox president Charles Steinberg said. “I think it’s the city. The people of the city are so proud.”
